My name is Briana and I’m a twenty-five twenty-six year old American chick. I grew up in the sunny, green suburbs of North Carolina. I went to school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and studied English literature. I delight in being a misfit, drinking good coffee and making bad jokes.
Six months after graduating, at the end August of 2008, I moved to South Korea to teach English. I am on the look out for new adventures.

“….or the national language.”
=(
I get by. I also have my first Korean lesson tomorrow, during work hours no less. Did I mention that I have the best job?
what is going to be your new adventure…
wondering…
I don’t know yet. I am considering teaching abroad some place else. I’m also thinking about grad school. But right now I mostly think about less important things.
Hi; interesting blog. Keep up the good work; they always need good teachers in Seoul. So i’m sure you’ve gotten a taste for kimchee and denjaang jigae in your 2.5 years in Seoul? Or at least learned to withstand the smell? I was born in Seoul but the city sort of passed me by. I look forward to new posts on your blog…
Thanks for the kind words! I hope I’ve been a good teacher; as best as could be expected from someone with no teacher training or experience before going abroad.
I will take from Korea an affection for it and all of its dishes, though as someone who has never shied away from any foreign cuisines, I have to say Korean food isn’t my favorite. Doenjang chigae is really good though – definitely something I could enjoy often. I’m sure when I’m back in America it won’t be a rare day for me to be seeking out Korean food.
